Runway & Taxiway Layout and Striping

Airport Runway/Taxiway striping and layout are crucial for safe, efficient aircraft operations. They provide visual guidance to pilots, ensuring they stay on the correct path during takeoff, landing, and taxiing. We specialize in striping centerline markings, edge lines, hold lines, and runway numbers. It's all about keeping things organized and making sure planes can navigate smoothly. These markings serve as a visual roadmap for pilots, guiding them through the complex network of runways and taxiways at an airport. The striping includes various elements such as centerlines, which help pilots align their aircraft during takeoff and landing. Edge lines mark the boundaries of the runway and taxiway, ensuring planes stay on the designated path. Hold lines indicate areas where planes should stop and wait for clearance, enhancing safety during ground operations. Additionally, runway numbers and other symbols provide important information to pilots, helping them identify and navigate the correct runways. It's all about maintaining order and ensuring smooth and safe movements for aircraft. 

Runway Friction Testing - FAA Compliant

When landing, Airplanes depend on the friction created between the pavement surface, and the tires of the aircraft to ensure a safe landing. Over time, the skid-resistance of runway pavement deteriorates due to weathering, usage, aging and contaminants. The most persistent contaminant problem is deposits of rubber from tires of landing jet aircraft. Heavy rubber deposits can completely cover the pavement surface texture causing loss of aircraft braking capability and directional control, particularly when runways are wet. We use an NAC Dynamic Friction Tester to provide friction testing services for a variety of needs, such as testing for pavement maintenance planning purposes, evaluating for pavement construction project work compliance, new runway and overlay acceptance testing, investigative services and general consulting services. NAC-Dynamic Friction Tester™ is a portable continuous friction measuring device, certified by NASA, and approved by FAA, USAF, and ICAO. Currently used at 152 military airfields, commercial service airports, and highways worldwide.

Crack Repair & Maintenance

In an independent study, sealing cracks in pavement (crack sealing) has proven to be the lowest cost pavement preservation treatment available by far. In asphalt pavements, the next lowest cost pavement preservation treatment is a single chip seal which is approximately a whopping 4 times more expensive. Simply stated, a dollar spent crack sealing returns more benefit than a dollar spent with other preservation treatments. If your goal is to preserve your pavement for the longest period at the lowest cost, you must crack seal. Approximately 75% of cracks in asphalt pavement form into potholes within 3 years if the appropriate action is not taken. In drastic comparison, only approximately 1% of cracks that have been sealed will form into potholes within 3 years.

Silicone Joint Sealing

Our trusted team at Custom Pavement can provide saw cutting for existing joints, pressure washing, preparation for sand blasting, backer rod installation and new sealant installation. 


We are also certified in the installation of Dow 890 SL joint sealant. This rapid cure sealant is a two-part, fast-cure epoxy for bridge decks that requires manufacturer certified training and installation. We are fully trained and certified and proud of it!
